WHAT IS IT?
Shimano Curado 150 MGL
WHAT SETS IT APART?
Optimizing the combination of tournament-tested performance and versatility among low-profile casting reels, Shimano’s Curado family expands with its lightest model to date — the Curado 150 MGL. Measuring a compact 32 mm and weighing 6.5 ounces, this new reel offers a significant weight reduction from the workhorse Curado 200. With a good palm fit, the Curado 150 MGL was designed to deliver greater casting distance and accuracy for multiple techniques and lure sizes.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Built with a 150-size spool paired with MagnumLite (MGL) Spool technology, the Curado MGL 150 is available in three gear ratios to handle practically any presentation style. Options comprise the low speed 6.2:1 (CUMGL150), medium 7.4:1 (CUMGL150HG) and extra-high 8.1:1 (CUMGL150XG). Featuring Shimano’s HAGANE body, features include a MicroModule Gear, silent tune, S3D Spool Technology, SVS Infinity Braking, Cross Carbon Drag and S A-RB Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings.
Making the venerable Curado MGL smaller and lighter will help reduce fatigue and help an angler maintain presentation consistency. Also, that zippy 8.1:1 gear ratio will help maximize efficiency in several techniques. The ability to pick up line fast, either to retrieve and make another shot or to set the hook, speeds up the overall process. More flips, casts, skips or pitches means more opportunities to tempt a bite. Most anglers appreciate anything that puts the odds in their favor.
