For the past year or so all of the trips I’d been really excited for had not gone to plan between mechanical problems, unexpected closed or impassible roads, and destinations that just didn’t live up to expectations. I’m not saying that I haven’t had plenty of great weekends camping or wheeling in familiar places or the trips were total busts, but the really exciting trips to new and remote locations with my core group of off roading buddies just seemed to be on a rough streak.
This weekend was refreshingly different. We checked out an area in Central Washington that had somehow slipped under our noses despite being just a few hours from home and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Deserted, beautiful views, rugged roads that were fun to drive on but not in such disrepair as to be undriveable. Looks like it’s going to be a good summer!
