Gerber Introduces NEW Downwind Series with 3 Different Fixed Blades

The Gerber has just launched their NEW Downwind series which includes three fixed blade knives; two of which are designed specifically with hunters in mind. The new Gerber series includes an Ulu knife for processing large game, a Caper knife for finer work, and a traditional, do-it-all Drop Point knife. Each of the three new offerings come with a waxed canvas sheath, and will have two color options for the G10 scales – olive or black.

Gerber Ulu Knife

Starting with the Downwind Ulu knife which has an MSRP of $55 with a 6.54″ blade, Gerber’s product description can be read below:

The Downwind Series is a nod to the aesthetics of the past, with the materials of modern day. The Ulu design is meant to navigate the task of breaking down large game in the field, featuring large blade surface and an ergonomic handle design to ease fatigue. Maximize time and energy with this unique tool that provides deep, sweeping cuts.

Gerber Caper Knife

Next up, the Gerber Downwind Caper knife which punches in at a light 2.1 ounces, a 7.24″ blade length, and an affordable MSRP of $39. Gerber’s product description can be read below:

The Downwind Series is a nod to the aesthetics of the past, married with the materials of modern day. The caper design is meant for those close-up moments of the breakdown process, featuring jimping on the end of the blade and an oversized choil to choke up for detail work. Reach for this blade shape when more intricate cuts are needed.

Gerber Drop Point Knife

The third and final offering in the Downwind series is the Drop Point knife which weighs 4.59 ounces, has a blade length of 8.97″, and comes in at an MSRP of $44. Gerber’s product description can be read below:

The Downwind Series is a nod to the aesthetics of the past, married with the materials of modern day. The drop point design empowers the user to maintain certain control over the knife with subtle jimping on the spine and control choils built into the ergonomic handle design. This blade is an all-around workhorse, ideal for utility tasks and standard cuts.
