physical books or the app? : overlanding

Headed to the Rockies for the summer. Thinking about getting the Backroad mapbooks for BC/AB. I hesitate between the actual books or the app though. App isn’t well rated on the App Store. Books are always going to be with you, but bulky if you get the full set for both provinces.

Anyone with experience with the app? Is it alright? Should I just get the books?
