Video Pro Tips: Why and How to Practice Fly Casting

A couple years ago, the folks at Mad River Outfitters in Columbus, Ohio, launched a new series about fly casting. In the latest episode, Brian Flechsig talks about one of the most important things you can do to become a better caster: practice. Every time you ask a professional guide what the one thing clients can do to get more out of their day on the water, the guide says the same thing–practice your casting before the trip.

So, how, exactly, do you practice fly casting? Flechsig explains the three things you should look for and then offers several methods for improving your casting motion, loops, and timing.
