Water storage options? : overlanding

I’m looking for water storage solutions and wondering what you all use.

I’m looking at this cheap Aqua-tainer that can be found at Walmart for $18.

The other style is this sort of clone of the USGI jerry can.

I’ve read some Overlanding blogs that recommend $300 jerry cans and that makes no sense to me. Am I overlooking anything that would make using a cheap Walmart water container with a spout a bad idea?
